Ep 064: Does the Bible Support War?

Apr 27, 2026    Jesse Hailey, Michael Moos, McKenzie Banks

The Bible includes stories of war, commands involving conflict, and teachings from Jesus about loving your enemies. So how are Christians supposed to make sense of all of this?

In this episode, we walk through what Scripture says about war across both the Old and New Testaments and address the tension many people feel when reading these passages. We talk about how to understand God commanding war in the Old Testament alongside Jesus’ teachings on peace and enemy love, and whether all violence is sinful or if there is moral complexity in a broken world.

We also discuss difficult questions about innocent people suffering in war, how Christians should think about military service, self defense, and national protection, and what it means to be peacemakers in a world that is not yet fully restored. This conversation aims to move beyond political talking points and focus on a thoughtful, biblical understanding of justice, peace, and the reality of living in a fallen world.

Topics discussed: war in the Bible, current war, war with Iran, just war, peace, violence, military service, justice, Christian worldview.
