Before The Harvest
Before The Harvest
In Acts 18:12–23, Paul’s ministry in Corinth demonstrates how believers can remain faithful through opposition, discouragement, and changing circumstances. Although Paul arrived in Corinth alone and faced resistance, God provided faithful friends to encourage and strengthen him. Aquila and Priscilla, along with Silas and Timothy, reminded Paul that he did not have to serve alone. Their fellowship and encouragement helped him continue his ministry. Similarly, believers must resist the temptation to isolate themselves when life becomes difficult and instead remain connected to fellow Christians who can encourage them in faith and good works.
Paul also remained faithful because he understood his mission and trusted God’s Word. His commitment was not tied to a particular city, comfortable circumstances, or personal feelings, but to abiding in Christ and following His direction. When opposition arose in Corinth, God reminded Paul that He was with him and would protect him as he continued preaching. God does not always remove us from difficult circumstances, but His Word provides the strength and confidence to endure them. Faithfulness means being willing to go or stay according to God’s direction, trusting His promises rather than allowing fear, discouragement, or changing circumstances to determine our obedience.
Finally, Paul’s perseverance allowed him to witness the harvest God was producing through his ministry. Many Corinthians believed in Christ, a church was established, and the gospel continued spreading into other regions. These results came through ordinary days of consistent faithfulness, reminding believers that their responsibility is to sow the seed while leaving the results to God. We may never see the full impact of our obedience, but God is working even when progress seems slow. As Galatians 6:9 teaches, we must not grow weary in doing good, because we will reap in due season if we do not faint. Believers are encouraged to maintain godly friendships, remain committed to their mission, stand firmly on God’s Word, and continue serving faithfully while trusting Him for the harvest.
