Dynamic Duo
Dynamic Duo
In Acts 18:24–28, Apollos was an educated, passionate, and knowledgeable preacher who understood the Scriptures but needed a more complete understanding of the gospel. Priscilla and Aquila recognized his potential and took him aside privately to explain the way of God more accurately. Their example demonstrates God’s design for marriage: a husband and wife working together to accomplish His purposes. From the beginning, God gave Adam and Eve a shared mission, showing that marriage was never meant to compete with God’s work but to be a partnership in fulfilling it.
Priscilla and Aquila modeled what it means to be a dynamic duo by serving Christ together wherever they went. They opened their home to the church, sacrificed for the ministry, and personally invested in others, including Apollos. Rather than simply pointing him toward the truth, they welcomed him and helped him grow. Their example reminds us that serving God involves commitment, sacrifice, and intentional relationships. At EPBC, outreach means bringing people in, while in-reach means helping them grow further in Christ. We must be willing to welcome people not because of what they can become, but because they belong to Christ.
God calls families to build something greater than their own comfort and security. Just as families worked together to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls, Christians should work together to strengthen the church and prepare the way for future generations. Raising children is not a pause from serving God; it is part of that service, as demonstrated by faithful families throughout Scripture. Our homes should be places where children learn to love Christ, serve others, and embrace His calling. Ultimately, Priscilla and Aquila never needed to preach in Corinth to make a difference there. Apollos went on to become a powerful minister, and God used the investment they made in him to further His work. God has not saved us merely to make us comfortable, but to give us a purpose—and when couples and families pursue that purpose together, their influence can extend far beyond their own homes.
