Ep 091: How Do I See My Body the Way God Does?
How do you look in the mirror and actually like the person looking back at you?
We're surrounded by images of what we're supposedly supposed to look like. Social media, filters, editing, celebrities, influencers, fitness culture, beauty trends, and even the people around us can make it incredibly easy to compare our bodies and decide we don't measure up.
So what does GOD actually say about our bodies?
In this episode, we're talking about body image from a biblical perspective. What does it mean to be “fearfully and wonderfully made”? Is constantly criticizing our appearance really humility? And on the opposite end, how do we appreciate our bodies without becoming obsessed with our appearance?
We also talk about caring for the bodies God has given us. Biblical contentment doesn't mean we stop caring about our health, and taking care of our bodies doesn't mean they have to become an idol. So how should Christians think about things like food, exercise, health, beauty, clothing, fitness, and physical appearance?
Our bodies will change. Trends will change. Beauty fades. If our confidence is built entirely on what we see in the mirror, eventually that foundation is going to fail us.
Our goal isn't to convince ourselves that we're the most attractive person in every room. It's to learn to see ourselves through the eyes of the God who created us and find our identity in something far more permanent than our appearance.
