Ep 087: What Does God Actually Promise Us?

We hear Christians talk about “standing on the promises of God” all the time... but what has God actually promised us?

Did God promise that everything would work out the way we want? That we'll find a spouse? Be financially secure? Get the job? Be healed? Have our prayers answered the way we hoped? Live a happy and comfortable life?

Sometimes we can become disappointed with God for failing to keep promises He never actually made.

In this episode, we're going back to the Bible to talk about what God's promises really are, how we know which promises in Scripture apply to us today, and some of the incredible things God actually HAS promised His people.

We also get into the harder side of this conversation. What happens when prayers aren't answered the way we wanted? What do we do with suffering, disappointment, waiting, and circumstances that don't make sense? Can we still trust that God is faithful when our life looks nothing like we expected?

God's promises are better than the promises we sometimes create for Him. The more we actually know what He has said, the more confidently we can trust Him when life doesn't go according to our plans.
